My first opportunity to speak to a large corporate crowd happened in 1998. It's probably apparent that I've been travelling again a lot lately as the number of posts related to books has gone up. I cannot recommend this book enough! At FOSDEM, I was given a copy of “Confessions of a Public Speaker” by Scott Berkun (thanks, Josette!). Book: Confessions of a Public Speaker. A confession: I've never liked, or been good at, public speaking. Public speaking is one of those things that people fear the most. Larry Ullman's review of Scott Berkun's excellent book. Scott Berkun tells an interesting, well-paced and honest (sometimes raw) account of what it's like to be a public speaker. Our firm had just created a new product and service offering. Most people listening to presentations around the world right now are hoping their speakers will end soon. Confessions of a public speaker. Standing in front of an audience of any size, for any reason, has been my kryptonite. Scott Berkum is super clever and funny. It's an story-filled ramble through the life of someone who talks for a living.
